In December 2002, Albin Engineering Services, Inc. was honored to receive the STAR Supplier Subcontractor/Service award from Lockheed Martin Corporation. The STAR award was developed by Lockheed Martin to allow them to distinguish recipients as top performing suppliers. To be recognized as a STAR Supplier, AESI was and still is committed to continuous improvement and maintaining standards of excellence in the areas of quality, cost, and schedule. Star Supplier Award recipients are considered by Lockheed Martin as Strategic Alliances for the future. At the time of the Award, out of 70,000 Lockheed Martin suppliers only 118 STAR Awards had been awarded. Out of the 118 total awards, only 18 STAR Awards have been given in the Service Category.

The four evaluation categories are:

Schedule
Affordability
Management

Suppliers must score a minimum of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale to be eligible for STAR award status. Key performance factors are:

Quality

Supplier's service and commitment to customer satisfaction

Productive and effective working relationships

Processes and/or measures in place

Responsiveness to corrective action requests or issues

Supplier has a documented and effective quality program

Schedule

Contracted delivery/project completion schedules met
Proposals for LMC changes are prompt and responsive
Supplier communicates appropriately
Shipping/invoice documents are provided

Affordability

Actual cost performance over the life of the contract
Responsive to/initiates cost containment/reduction initiatives

Management

Supplier management is committed to continuous improvement
Supplier is a leader in technology and processes
Supplier requires management/technical assistance
All personnel are technically and knowledgeably qualified
Communication is a continuous dialogue
Supplier is recommended for future business

Albin Engineering Services, Inc. (AESI) was recently added to Lockheed Martin Corporation's exemplary list of suppliers, and received its highest honor, the "Lockheed Martin STAR Supplier Award". To mark the distinction of this key milestone, U.S. Congressman Mike Honda, US Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren, Sunnyvale’s own Mayor Julia Miller, and key Lockheed Martin officials will address the AESI and Lockheed Martin employees during an awards luncheon on August 8, 2003 at AESI company headquarters in Sunnyvale, CA.

Star Supplier Awards are made only to Lockheed Martin Suppliers who distinguish themselves by meeting some of the most stringent performance criteria in the aerospace industry. A company that receives this Award is considered by Lockheed Martin to be one of their Strategic Alliances for the future. “Albin Engineering has worked with Lockheed Martin for many years and we are extremely honored to receive this prestigious award.
