Albin Engineering Services, Inc. (www.aesi.com) is seeking a Materials and Process Engineer to perform structural analysis for aerospace hardware. This is a W-2 contract position working for a leading aerospace company in Silicon Valley, CA.

Required Experience:
- Provide (Materials & Process) M&P technical expertise to company organizations involved in the design and fabrication of hi-rel spaceflight hardware. Mechanical hardware includes items such as spacecraft bus structure, heat pipe panels, solar arrays, antenna reflectors, feed structures, propulsion system, hold down and deployment mechanisms, thermal control system. Electrical hardware includes items such as power control systems, spacecraft control electronics, communications payload (C, Ku. Ka-bands), TT&C, batteries, electronic propulsion system.
- Areas of materials expertise may include metals, fiber reinforced composites, ceramics, plastics, thermal materials, lubricants, microwave electronic materials, space effects on materials (radiation, atomic oxygen, UV, thermal/vacuum exposure, etc).
- Areas of process expertise may include metallization processes, surface coatings, corrosion prevention, welding, brazing, soldering, PWB/PWA fabrication, adhesive bonding, electrical interconnect processes, contamination control, ESD control.
- Provide technical guidance in the application of requirements from MIL-STD, ASTM, Fed Specs and other industry/government standards as they are applicable to hi-rel space hardware.
- Review and provide technical assessments on engineering designs, manufacturing documentation, and test reports.
- Review and approve manufacturing process instructions and maintain program approved materials and processes lists.
- Coordinate and lead failure investigations and process improvements and corrective actions.
- Assist in the evaluation and qualification of vendor sources for raw materials and finished products.
- Provide technical review and approval of materials and processes used by company subcontract
- Establish reliable and cost effective engineering and manufacturing requirements based on industry best practices.
- Recommend and implement changes and improvements to materials and processes while maintaining high reliability.
- Support company internal audits and ISO 9001 / AS 9100 audits of electronic assembly manufacturing areas.
- Assist other M&P engineers in related technical fields.
- Support overall M&P organization in other general engineering activities as needed.
- Familiarity with MRPII, JIT, TQM. Knowledge of cost and schedule management (CSM) system.
- Knowledge of PDMS, SDMS, MRP and Flexsys are desirable.
- Minimum 5 years experience in aerospace industry or related fields(s): 3 years with MS degree preferred.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication and skills working with teams.
- Day shift, occasionally OT, required to travel domestic.
