Albin Engineering is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer with skills in developing software for level 2 or 3 network appliances to work on contract for a leading aerospace company. Will specify layer 2 switch software requirements, perform evaluation of potential suppliers, perform hardware/software architectural trades and manage development by a third party supplier.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Contribute to system concept of operations
- Perform object orientated software design of Layer 2 switch using Rational Rose
- Allocate requirements to software modules
- Assess Service Level Agreement (SLA) performance and capacity analysis
- Manage the selection of third party software developers
- Oversee the development of the layer 2 switch software
- Document requirement allocation
- Prepare white papers
- Contribute technically to the establishment of subcontractor with supplier
- Assess and motivate subcontractors technical progress
- Present technical and programmatic progress reports
- Mentor others on Object Oriented design using Rational Rose

Required Experience:
- 10 years of experience in developing software for level 2 or 3 network appliances
- Experience in CMMI level 5 software development environment
- BS degree equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field; MS degree preferred. PhD degree desirable
- Minimum 10 years related work experience required with BS degree
- With MS or PhD degree, minimum 8 or 6 year related work experience required respectively
- Travel - Domestic
